Intrawest Names Paul Jorgensen as President and COO Mountain Creek Resort
Formerly CFO at Boyne Resorts
VANCOUVER, Canada, February 28, 2008. Intrawest ULC ("Intrawest"), a world leader in the development and management of experiential destination resorts, today announced the appointment of Paul Jorgensen to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer at Mountain Creek in New Jersey. In this role, Jorgensen will be responsible for all aspects of Mountain Creek's resort operations, including real estate development and sales and he will report directly to Alex Wasilov, Chief Executive Officer at Intrawest.
Jorgensen began his career with Intrawest in 2005 as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions and was promoted in 2007 to his most recent position as Vice President of Mountain Operations. In that role, he was responsible for leading the drive to optimize the winter operating models of Intrawest's destination resorts by identifying and implementing best in class operating strategies within the mountain operations, maintenance and ski and ride schools. Effective March 1, 2008, Jorgensen will leave his current position at the Intrawest corporate head office in Vancouver and transition to his new responsibilities at Mountain Creek.
"Paul brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to this position and he will be a tremendous addition to the leadership team at Mountain Creek," said Alex Wasilov, chief executive officer at Intrawest. "These strong leadership qualities will ensure that we continue to deliver world-class experiences for our resort guests, homeowners and employees at Mountain Creek."
Prior to joining Intrawest, Jorgensen served as Chief Financial Officer at Boyne Resorts whose resort operations include Big Sky, Crystal Mountain and Brighton Resort. Early in his career he was also an investment banker with Capital West Partners. Jorgensen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Accountant.
With a strong management team, dedicated employee group, and extensive community partnerships, Mountain Creek is one of the premiere mountain resorts in the Eastern United States. In his new position, Jorgensen will play a critical role in the future growth of Mountain Creek as a valuable part of Intrawest's network of experiential destinations resorts.
"Intrawest is the leader in the destination resort industry and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the highly talented team at Mountain Creek," said Jorgensen. "With the opening of the new South terrain park, Mountain Creek has carved a favorable niche with the core snowboarding market in addition to the wide variety of terrain currently available for skiers and riders on Vernon and Granite Peaks. My goal is to continue the resort's winning tradition by partnering with the local community as we continue to deliver world-class experiences for our resort guests, homeowners and employees."
