Chuck Shishido Recipient of Outrigger's Chairman's Award

HONOLULU, HI, May 13, 2008. Outrigger Enterprises Group recently announced the company's 2007 Chairman's Award recipient -- Chuck Shishido, vice president of OHANA(r) Hotels & Resorts. For the past 20 years, this distinction has been given out annually to a member of Outrigger's senior executive team as a means to recognize individuals that have distinguished themselves through exceptional contributions to the company.

"Chuck, a 35-year veteran of Outrigger, is a professional who lives 'the Outrigger way' every day. Under his leadership, the OHANA brand has established itself in a short period of time as a viable, high-performing and unique brand that delights our guests," said Dr. Richard Kelley, Outrigger Enterprises Group's chairman of the board. "Chuck is known for his quiet effectiveness and humility -- and always puts his team before himself."

Chuck's loyalty to Outrigger is an inspiration. He was first introduced to Outrigger by his mother, who served Outrigger capably and well for almost 20 years as a Housekeeper. Chuck joined our 'ohana in December 1972, working part time, while attending the University of Hawaii.

Taking advantage of opportunities provided him, he steadily increased his responsibilities, from Front Desk Clerk to Assistant Hotel Manager, Hotel Manager, Group Hotel Manager, General Manager at Outrigger Waikiki, and Director of Operations. He was promoted to Vice President, OHANA Hotels, in 2003.

Chuck is known for his quiet effectiveness and humility. He always puts his team before himself. He has a way of bringing out the best in his co-workers. A consummate coach and mentor, Chuck has led many employees up the responsibility ladder to management positions throughout Outrigger's operations.

In fact, every one of our Waikiki hotels is staffed with graduates of "CTIM," otherwise known as the Chuck Shishido School of Travel Industry Management.

Chuck truly cares about our 'ohana and encourages growth by providing opportunity, counsel, and most admirably, by his example. I am extremely proud of Chuck and absolutely delighted to select him as the Chairman's Award honoree for 2007.

Shishido also played a pivotal role during the recent launch of OHANA's "New OHANA" campaign, that features a package of complimentary amenities for guests, the most popular being free rides on the Waikiki Trolley. No other hotel in Waikiki currently offers this amenity, and the success of the program has been measured by its positive feedback, as well as the sheer number of guests who take advantage of the free services.

This year's Chairman's Award was presented by Dr. Richard Kelley during the company's annual Po'okela Awards ceremony on Monday, April 28th at the Ala Moana Hotel.
