Russ Mitchell Named DOS&M for Westin South Coast Plaza
COSTA MESA, CA, September 22, 2008. Award-winning hotel industry veteran Russ Mitchell has been named director of sales & marketing for The Westin South Coast Plaza.
Mitchell joins the hotel after serving as director of sales & marketing at The Westin Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego since March of 2005. He has more than 18 years of previous sales and marketing experience, including assignments with Sheraton Suites San Diego; the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, The Westin Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Los Angeles; and The Westin Hotel, Santa Clara.
He was previously with The Westin South Coast Plaza, serving as national sales manager from December of 1994 to July of 1996. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990 from California State University, Long Beach.
In 2006, he was named Starwood Southern California/Nevada Region Sales Leader of the Year. He was a Starwood Platinum Award recipient in 1998, 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2006. He was the leader for the Starwood NAD Sales Team of the Year for Team Hot 2007. Additionally, he has been active member of Meeting Professionals International.
