The Landmark London Unveils New Champagne Bar

. October 14, 2008

LONDON, UK, Ocotober 12, 2005. The five-star Landmark London has just unveiled its elegant new bar. Designed to reflect the original decor of The Landmark, which was built in 1899 during the golden age of steam, The Mirror Bar is opulent and sumptuous.

All the design elements in The Mirror Bar are couture and bespoke in a style reminiscent of a bygone era. Three ornate antique mirrors positioned opposite three huge French windows form a pivotal part of the decor, in what was once the old boardroom within the Grade II listed hotel.

The talent behind the design is David Morris of Proof Consultancy, who describes the highly appointed Mirror Bar as "a Jewel Box of a bar", as every detail has been meticulously considered to be sympathetic to the classical design. A dark, rich colour palette of velvets, damasks, florals and brocades are used throughout the interior.

The entrance to the bar is through a large sandstone arch on the hotel's ground floor. Upon entry two Champagne display cases made of walnut and nickel with glass shelving against a mirrored backdrop are set into the wall. Objects d'art create focal points within the entrance area.

The 35-seat Mirror Bar features a glass-fronted freestanding bar positioned in front of an original fireplace. Next to the fireplace are two beautifully crafted drinks display units, finished in walnut with nickel and mirror details. A further original fireplace is in full view at the opposite side of the room. There is also a beautiful walnut and nickel humidor stocked with the finest cigars, Cognacs and Whiskies with large drawers at either side to hold the heavy crystal Cognac and Whisky glasses.

Positioned between the French windows are feature centre panels made of fabrics by Zoffany. Bespoke pendants hung on blue leather straps couple with the low lighting and high ceilings with intricate plaster cornicing, to create a decadent atmosphere within the luxurious bar. The sumptuous seating features high wing back chairs and large sofas designed by Mary Fox Linton, William Yeoward and Proof Consultancy.

The exclusive bar is open from 4:00pm until 11:00pm daily, with a late license until 2:00am for residents of The Landmark London
