Kimpton Announces New GM and DOSM, Palomar Arlington at Waterview

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, 2008. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has appointed Benjamin Timashenka as general manager and Elfa Cleofe as director of sales and marketing of the Hotel Palomar Arlington at Waterview, a 154-room boutique lifestyle hotel located in Arlington, Va.

In his position as general manager, Timashenka will be responsible for overseeing all personnel, business development and guest relations at the hotel. He brings a wealth of hospitality knowledge to his new position, including over 4 years of experience at hotels in the Washington Metropolitan region. Most recently, Timashenka served as the general manager for the Westin Baltimore Washington Airport located in Lithicum, Md. Prior to that, Timashenka held the post of general manager for the Sheraton Crystal City located in Arlington, Va. His previous experience includes serving 10 years in various managerial and operations positions for Hyatt Hotels.

A resident of Crofton, Md, Timashenka received his Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Timashenka takes a leadership role in his community as an active participate with the Alzheimer Association and as a member of the Start-up Committee for the Crystal City Business Improvement District, a public-private partnership to transform Crystal City, Va. into a world-class destination.

Elfa Cleofe, Director of Sales and Marketing, Hotel Palomar Arlington at Waterview

In her new role with Kimpton, Elfa Cleofe will be responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing efforts for Hotel Palomar Arlington at Waterview. With over 20 years of hotel marketing and sales experience at luxury hotels throughout the world, Cleofe brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position. Most recently, she acted as the director of sales for the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia for three years. Prior to that, Cleofe held numerous director of sales and director of marketing positions at several other Four Seasons hotels, including the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so and the Four Seasons Hotel New York. Cleofe began her career as reservations manager for the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Washington, DC and New York before moving to the Four Seasons Philadelphia and later to the Four Seasons Seattle as corporate sales manager.

Cleofe graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in mass communications and a major in broadcasting. Cleofe is actively involved in Alliance Francaise, an international organization dedicated to promoting the French language and francophone culture, and she supports Dress for Success, a non-profit that provides interview suits and career development to low-income women. Having traveled to more than 30 countries, Cleofe is fluent in four languages and has lived in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Paris, but considers New York her home.
