World Travel Awards 2005 Online Voting Opens
World Travel Awards, the premier global awards event that aims to promote excellence in the travel and tourism industry, has announced that its online voting form is now live at www.worldtravelawards.com/votenow.
Winners will be announced at the World Travel Awards 12th annual ceremony in London, on Sunday 13 November at the prestigious Royal Opera House.
The sophisticated online voting facility provides travel agents and travel professionals with the unique opportunity to cast their votes at the click of a button. There are 749 categories and 3357 nominees to chose from and voters can select as many or as few of these categories as they want. Before submitting their votes, registered travel agents are required to enter an IATA/ IATAN number.
The voting form is divided into 'Continent', 'Country', 'Travel Technology' and 'World' categories to ensure speedy voting. In order to enable users to make most of the process a 'How to Vote' page has been created.
This year has seen the introduction of several new categories including: 'World's Leading Flatbed Seat', 'World's Leading Airline Inflight Meal Service' and 'World's Leading Tourism Property Development Company'. Additionally, the 'Leading Boutique Hotel' category for Country and Continent sections has been expanded.
Manon Han, Vice President of World Travel Awards commented: "There has been more interest than ever before in the self nominations, with over 100 applications from around the world, proving the significance of the nominee status.
"We have received a phenomenal response for this year's voting so far. We are expecting more votes than ever by the agents wishing to express their professional choices.
"The interest in the Gala Ceremony itself has been tremendous as well, by all industry persons concerned and worldwide media. We couldn't have picked a better date and place for the event this year, just the day before the World Travel Market in London. Spaces are selling out fast"
Criteria involved in the evaluation of nominees include scope of distribution, convenience, and overall best services. Last year's voting was up by 18%, as more and more people now recognise the global significance of achieving World Travel Awards winner's status.
