Rebuilding of San Camp
Known for its authentic pared down safari elegance whilst ensuring minimal ecological impact, San Camp is being completely rebuilt. This is a major upgrade that will raise the accommodation standards to that of famous Jack's Camp, without changing the wonderful simplicity and intimacy of this camp. San Camp will see the addition of a brand new central mess tent filled with fascinating artifacts from the area and the campaign furniture that is Uncharted Africa's signature style. The six new guest tents will offer swing beds on the balconies, Persian carpets and percale cotton sheets.
Refurbishment of Camp Kalahari
This relaxed eight-tented camp nestled amongst the acacias and Mokolwane palms of Hyaena Island, on the edge of the ancient super lake and adjacent to the Makgadikgadi National Park is being totally refurbished. It is a return to Jack's original 1940's style safari camps, and offers Guests a simple yet sophisticated Makgadikgadi experience. The eight Camp Kalahari tents are all en suite with hot and cold running water, flush loos, crisp cotton sheets, and hot water bottles in the winter. A traditionally thatched library, lounge and dining area, allow guests to relax and enjoy the serenity and peace of this enchanting area.
Founded in 1993 by Catherine Raphaely and Ralph Bousfield, Uncharted Africa captures the spirit of Ralph's legendary father, Jack Bousfield, a pioneering African adventurer whose vision it was to bring travelers to the otherworldly Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. It is one of the last truly traditional safari operations in Africa, and home to the famous Makgadikgadi meerkats.
