FEBRUARY 3, 2009 - Avenue hotel Chicago is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert K. Humphrey as its new Director of Sales & Marketing. Humphrey brings more than 10 years of hotel sales, marketing and management experience to the position, and will be responsible for increasing Avenue's sales and profits while expanding its client base . Avenue hotel Chicago, located at 160 E. Huron, is a favorite of both business and pleasure travelers for its unique d'ecor, amenities and service in a great location in the heart of the Magnificent Mile.

Prior to his role at Avenue hotel, Humphrey served as Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing for Whitehall Hotel Chicago, where he oversaw daily sales operations, including responsibility for: 5 hotels including the Whitehall, Best Western Grant Park, Best Western University Plaza, Comfort Inn Downers Grove and Best Western Dekalb; 12 catering/sales staff; 768 rooms; and over 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Throughout his career, Humphrey also held various other management positions including: Director of Sales for Allied Hospitality Group, overseeing sales for Holiday Inn Schaumburg and Holiday Inn O'Hare Kennedy; Sales Manager for Hyatt Regency Chicago; Director of Sales for Hotel Baker, St. Charles, IL; Director of Sales for Hampton Inn, Lansing, MI; Corporate Sales Manager for Hawthorne Hotel & Suites, Rosemont, IL; and Corporate Sales Manager for IRMCO Properties Chicago, representing the Seneca Hotel & Suites and the Belden Stratford Hotel in Chicago.
