Resort at Squaw Creek Names New Director of Sales & Marketing
Doug Phillips joins Squaw Valley, Calif.-based DH&R property
SQUAW VALLEY, October 21, 2005. Doug Phillips, with 23 years of experience in the hospitality industry, has been named director of sales and marketing for Resort at Squaw Creek, a perennial AAA Four-Diamond recipient and a Destination Hotels & Resorts (DH&R) property.
Phillips will oversee all of Resort at Squaw Creek's sales, public relations and marketing components, to include its leisure and group business, spa, five restaurants, retail shops, special events and selected winter and summer recreation offerings.
Resort at Squaw Creek - located at the base of Squaw Valley, with North Lake Tahoe's sole on-property chairlift providing guests ski-in, ski-out access - recently completed an extensive renovation of its lobby, conference facilities and restaurants, and is nearing completion of a renovation of all its 405 guest rooms and suites to provide a more residential look and character. When done, the renovation project will total $53 million.
Phillips joins Resort at Squaw Creek from Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa in Monterey, Calif., where since 1999 he served as director of sales and marketing. In 2004, Phillips helped increase total property revenues at Monterey Plaza by 12 percent over the previous year.
Previously, Phillips's extensive experience with premier U.S. destination resorts included serving as director of sales for The Silvertree Hotel in Snowmass Village, Colo.; director of sales and marketing and, later, director of operations for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on Hawaii's Kohala Coast; director of guest services for The Manele Bay Hotel on Lanai (Hawaii); and sales manager for The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.V.
His industry membership affiliations include Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International, Professional Conference Management Association, and American Society of Association Executives.
Phllips, a native of San Francisco, has three children.
