Community Marketing's Travel Alternatives Group (TAG)
TAG (the Travel Alternatives Group) is a decade old program that assists hotels appropriately serve and reach the gay and lesbian community. Over 1,200 hotels are involved in the program. Any gay or gay-welcoming accommodation (from small boutique hotels to large, flagged chains) may participate as long as the property meets TAG's acceptance standards. The program's annual membership fee of $179.00 US is priced so all hotels can participate, large and small.
Being a TAG Approved(R) Accommodation is a cost-effective way to reach gay and lesbian consumers in North America.
Membership includes eight practical benefits that make the $179 annual fee very cost-effective:
1) Print Directory: Your hotel is listed in the TAG Approved(R) Accommodations print directory. 40,000 copies of the directory are published every year and distributed by direct mail to key gay consumers, meeting planners, press and travel agents. The publication is printed and distributed in two 20,000 print runs - Spring and Fall, to keep all member information updated.
2) Web Directory: Your hotel is listed, searchable and linked on the worldwide internet directory, http://www.tagapproved.com, along with a hyperlink so consumers can go directly to your website.
3) Travelocity Partnership: TAG is the official partner of Travelocity, which provides TAG hotels exclusive listings on Travelocity's gay microsite - http://www.GayTravelocity.com. This benefit is only available for accommodations with existing Travelocity partnerships. If you do not yet have this partnership, TAG will connect your hotel to Travelocity for further information.
4) TAG Approved Logo Usage: Your hotel is authorized to use the objectively qualified TAG Approved(R) logo on all promotional materials.
5) Monthly E-newsletter: TAG distributes a monthly member e-newsletter to keep you updated on TAG activities and benefits.
6) Discounts from Media Partners: TAG partners with leading LGBT media companies every year and provides discounts to help you further promote your hotel to the gay and lesbian community. These partners are featured in the monthly e-newsletter.
7) Education: TAG invites you to participate in eight webinars every year. Four of the webinars focus on how to provide diversity training in your hotel. We do this webinar frequently to accommodate new hotels and new staff entering the program. In addition, four educational sessions are sales and marketing trainings to help you reach the LGBT community. Webinars are announced in the monthly e-newsletter.
8) Consultation: The TAG Help Desk allows you to call or email our marketing professionals to answer your questions on how to reach the LGBT market (some reasonable time limitations do apply).
