Downtown Disney Hotels Announce Renovations and Expansions at Several Properties, Reopening of Hotel
ORLANDO, FL, October 27, 2005. The Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels, a consortium of seven hotels in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., have announced that several of its member properties have undergone recent improvements, and that the completely renovated Hotel Royal Plaza - which has been closed since sustaining hurricane damage in August 2004 - is expected to reopen in January.
"We're continually making enhancements to increase our guests' comfort and overall stay," said Kelly Knowlen, chairperson of the hotels' marketing committee. "Our seven DOWNTOWN DISNEY Hotels offer a wide variety of room types and rates - from budget to luxury accommodations - and regardless of which hotel they select, every guest receives our exclusive Disney-related perks and is within walking distance of DOWNTOWN DISNEY's famous shops, restaurants and entertainment."
Recent enhancements at the member hotels include:
o New Sweet Dreams(c) By Doubletree Sleep Experience in all 229 designer-appointed suites at The Doubletree Guest Suites. The new beds feature a plush-top mattress that is triple-sheeted with luxurious high-thread-count linens, topped with a down comforter and an abundant supply of jumbo pillows. The hotel also has installed new queen-size, convertible sofa beds in the living room of each suite, curved shower curtain rods in the bathrooms, new clock radios with MP3 capabilities, remote printing from the guest rooms, and complimentary WiFi in all public areas.
o The Hilton in the Walt Disney World(R) Resort has enhanced its 814 guest rooms with the following: the Hilton Serenity collection, which includes a new Crabtree & Evelyn amenity package; the Hilton bed featuring a pillow top mattress, 250-thread count sheets and five overstuffed down pillows; an easy-to-set clock radio with MP3 capabilities; and new, flat-screen televisions (27" models in standard rooms, 32" sets in executive-level accommodations). Renovations to the hotel's Palm Ballroom and mezzanine meeting space are complete; the lobby and Finn's restaurant should be done by December.
o The Hotel Royal Plaza will officially reopen in January after undergoing a top-to-bottom, multi-million-dollar renovation. The full-service, mid-range property's 396 guest rooms, meeting space and public areas have received a complete makeover since closing in 2004 due to damage caused by Hurricane Charley. The Hotel Royal Plaza's all-new guest rooms feature plush carpeting and drapes, custom, over-stuffed pillow-top "Royal Beds", curved shower rods, "Royal Robes", Bath & Body Works amenities, pull-out sleeper sofas, private balconies and more. In addition, all of the hotel's public areas (including restaurants, lounges and ballrooms) have been redone and now feature wireless Internet access, new artwork, carpeting and tile, wall coverings and furniture.
o The Grosvenor Resort has introduced its new Crown Level program, which features its best tower rooms (with a spectacular view of Walt Disney World & nightly fireworks from MGM Studios, Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Pleasure Island) plus V.I.P. service and amenities, including turn-down service, robe, refrigerator with complimentary bottled water, fresh-brewed coffee and tea, and complimentary in-room continental breakfast.
