Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort Announces Opening Of Grand Lobby And Lobby Bar, Remodled Spa, Two

. October 14, 2008

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico - With several new additions, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa is the place to see and be seen in Cabo San Lucas.

The Spa at Sunset Beach

At 16,000 square feet, The Spa at Sunset Beach is Los Cabos' largest and most comprehensive spa, designed to provide the best atmosphere for the integration of body-healing therapies in a soothing setting that revels in its abundant natural beauty. Luxurious Italian marble wet areas will offer invigorating hydrotherapies-from Jacuzzis, Swiss showers, and steam rooms to cold water plunges, and rain shower baths. Indulging in therapeutic massage and signature body treatments, guests can relax in one of 22 treatment rooms or share the experience in one of the VIP treatment rooms for two with private saunas and Jacuzzis

Grand Lobby

Details of the grand lobby indicate the quality and attention to detail that prevail at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa. Providing a sense of place, relevant to the surroundings and culture, has been an important part of the material selection and design.

Arrival is nothing short of a grand entrance into a flagstone-paved courtyard centered on a hacienda-style, hand-carved stone fountain that soothes with its gentle aquatic cadence.

The sparkling Pacific and the rest of the property can be seen from a height equivalent to 25 stories above the ocean with sweeping views from an expansive outdoor terrace. Guests arrive at the front desk, with its nine service positions, by passing through an immense stone arch.

Interior floors are laid with a pattern of both creamy marble and slabs of Mexico's famous quarry stone, cantera, which also covers walls and pillars. The lobby's pyramid-shaped ceilings are covered with an intricate pattern of beautiful hand-polished cedar. Sconces and chandeliers adorn the walls and ceilings while luxurious sitting areas offer oversized furniture typical of old Mexico haciendas for guests to relax. Abundant fresh flowers and green foliage adorn the open spaces in handsome hand-carved cantera planters.

Lobby Bar

The Lobby Bar features an extensive menu of flavored martinis, a sushi bar and a selection of tropical and traditional drinks, accompanied by live music. "The cedar and onyx decor and the elegant wood and pewter furniture are in keeping with the Hacienda-style architecture of Sunset Beach's villas and main buildings. Whether guests are inside the bar or outside on the adjacent open-air terrace, they have a panoramic ocean view," said Douglas Dodge, general manager of Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa.

Just outside the entrance to the bar stand two elegantly attired life-size katrinas-the clothed skeletons that are a unique part of Mexican culture. Inside the bar, an exquisite collection of fine china katrinas continues the theme.

Dining Venues

A gourmet Mexican restaurant, Frida!, named for famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, will provide indoor and outdoor dining and seat 70 people. The Cigar Bar will offer Cuban cigars, cognacs, liquers, and fine wines by the glass-all staffed by a winekeeper.

For those in search of a midnight snack, The Bistro, Los Cabos' first 24-hour bistro will accommodate up to 200 guests and also will have a private, ocean view dining room for special parties.

Wedding Chapel

Getting married in Cabo San Lucas will be unforgettable at the elegant Sunset Chapel. A graceful entrance atrium is adjacent to Sal'on Monasterio, the attached banquet and meeting room that also provides ocean view terrace seating for 140.

Art

A signature presence among all Pueblo Bonito resorts is the display of fine art throughout the indoor and outdoor public spaces. And the new lobby complex highlights some of the most prized pieces in the collection. Fine art in the colonial style abounds on lobby walls and an impressive silver reliquary was commissioned to fill a custom niche in one wall.

A magnificent altarpiece that has graced the reception area since the resort opened will assume a similar placement in the new lobby. And the beloved, larger-than-life statue of San Miguel (St. Michael) that was previously displayed in the center of the La Nao restaurant will find a new home welcoming visitors to the resort.
