Seattle Sheraton's $130M Expansion Project Under Way
SEATTLE, WA, November 9, 2005. A $130-million expansion project is now under way at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel & Towers here. Plans call for a new 25-story tower as well as expanded ballroom and meeting space, a new signature restaurant, 415 new guestrooms and a redesigned lobby and lounge.
Once the project is complete in the spring of 2007, the hotel's capacity will have increased by nearly 50% up to 1,253 guestrooms. Furthermore, upon completion, the hotel will have two new entrances for access to the Washington State Convention Center, 75,000 sf of total meeting space and will be considered a headquarters convention center hotel.
Callison is the designer for the expansion project, which will also add a 290-foot spire on top of the new tower that will be capped with a beacon of blue light. The new tower's exterior will be clad in light-colored, pre-cast concrete and will feature a champagne-colored aluminum window system and clear vision glass.
The overall expansion project will add 287,000 sf to the Seattle Sheraton.
