Prestigious Win for Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore
SINGAPORE, November 30, 2005. We are pleased to announce that the prestigious "Hotel Receptionist of the Year Competition 2005" title has been awarded to Ian Soh, Guest Relations Executive at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore.
Presented annually by the Association of Rooms Division Executives (ARDE), this win will see Ian representing Singapore in the "David Campbell Trophy" international competition in London on 12 January 2006.
In the preliminary round, all 18 nominated participants had to undergo a panel interview and written examination where all areas of front office operations including room reservations, reception, cashiering, guest departure, telephone services, guest information and services, and business were tested. Ian proceeded to the next round, only to beat the other eight finalists from hotels including the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons Hotel, Marriott and Swissotel The Stamford, to list a few.
Having been with the Millennium & Copthorne group since July 2004, Ian has proven to be a valuable asset to the company. Always cheerful and never without a smile, he has received numerous compliments from hotel guests for his commendable work performance. It is of no surprise that he has also been short-listed for the "Tourism Host of the Year 2005" award by Singapore Tourism Board.
"We are very proud to have groomed a team member to such high levels to represent Singapore in an international competition. Ian has great potential and we are very happy to have a member like him in our team." said Clement Teo, Hotel Manager of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore.
Winning such a prestigious award and to represent Singapore in an international competition is what 20-year-old Ian would never have dreamt of. "It is still a shock to me but I'm very grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me. I will do my best to make my country proud and not disappoint all my friends at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore."
