AFRICA, December 7, 2005. We are pleased to inform you that Serena Hotels has been voted the Most Respected Company of the Year in East Africa, in the Hotel and Tourism Category, in the 2005 PricewaterhouseCoopers Nation Media Survey. Serena Hotels has now received the award for the third time running.

The survey polled 290 CEOs in East Africa and the presentation ceremony was held in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.Winning an award in East Africa's Most Respected Company Survey comes hot on the heels of the Serena Group having four of its lodges voted amongst '2005 Best African Safari Lodges' by Conde Nast's Traveler Magazine. These were Kirawira Luxury Tented Camp, Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Samburu Serena Safari Lodge and Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

Three of the properties were also recently recognized at the prestigious 12th Annual World Travel Awards Ceremony held in London. These were Nairobi Serena Hotel (as Kenya's Leading Hotel), The Polana Serena Hotel (as Mozambique's Leading Hotel) and Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge (as Tanzania's leading Safari Lodge)

In the last year Serena has opened two new tented camps - Mbuzi Mawe in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park - and Sweetwaters Tented Camp near Nairobi in Kenya.

The Mombasa Serena will also be undergoing refurbishments shortly including a fabulous new spa facility.

Other developments in Africa include the relaunch of the Kampala Serena in Uganda which is due to open shortly - and Serena also opened the Serena Kabul in Afghanistan last month (November).
