Resort at Squaw Creek Caps $53 million Renovation
Squaw Valley-based resort guests will notice dramatic improvements throughout
SQUAW VALLEY, CA, January 21, 2006. The Resort at Squaw Creek, a Destination Hotels & Resorts property (DH&R), announced today it has completed a "dramatic" $53 million, 14-month renovation of the entire resort. The renovation, which began in November 2004, started with the 33,000 square feet of conference facilities and public space within the resort, followed by the conversion of the property's 405 guest rooms into privately owned luxury residential units.
"This dramatic, across-the-board renovation will be a boon for our leisure and group guests, but at the heart of it all, this is essentially the same all-season mountain resort so many have come to enjoy over the years," said Doug Phillips, director of sales and marketing, Resort at Squaw Creek. "We still offer more than 400 resort rooms and suites, we still offer some of the best meeting facilities in California and we still offer all of the services and amenities one would expect from a perennial AAA Four-Diamond property."
Phillips added, however, what has changed is that "every detail of the resort is practically brand new." The final phase of the renovation featured significant improvements to its two existing restaurants and the debut of two well as new landscaping throughout the property. Whether staying for a week or a long weekend, the resort^aEURTMs 2006 guests will notice some of the most breathtaking enhancements in the lodging accommodations, which now feature resort-style kitchens with name-brand appliances, gas fireplaces with stone hearths, granite countertops, air conditioning, deluxe "deep powder" beds and flat-screen LCD televisions.
Phillips noted that the resort continues to operate as a premier destination resort with Squaw Creek Associates retaining ownership of the golf course, restaurants, conference facilities, spa and ice rink. The owners of these residential units will have the option to place their resort home in a fully managed hotel rental program operated by DH&R, one of the nation's leading resort operators.
"This renovation and conversion presents an exciting opportunity for both owner and guest to experience a four-star stay in a resort-style home," Phillips said. "Consider we're located minutes from Lake Tahoe, our extensive resort amenities and services to include our on-property chairlift providing ski-in/ski-out access to Squaw Valley, USA and our Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed golf course; and all of DH&R's expertise in the management and maintenance of resorts and residential units. It's a win-win scenario."
