Hilton Upgrades The Classic Caledonian
EDINBURG, Scotland, June 20, 2005. The Caledonian Hilton is completing a lb6.4 million upgrade, significantly modernising this classic Edinburgh hotel. 125 guestrooms have been completely refurbished with a more modern look and updated facilities, and the renamed 'Caley Bar' has been revitalised.
The hotel's Deluxe and Castle View guestrooms have all been updated with a modern design that follows a Scottish theme throughout, incorporating earthy colours with a mixture of silk and wool fabrics. All rooms now feature broadband Internet access and most have gained air conditioning.
The Caley Bar - as it was already informally known - benefits from a complete facelift, with new fixtures & fittings and an improved menu, ideal for hotel guests and locals looking for a relaxed and sophisticated venue.
The LivingWell leisure club, which spans two floors, has also gone through a makeover, offering state of the art cardiovascular equipment and a fully equipped weights studio. Having been expanded into two separate gymnasiums, the over-hauled fitness facility can now accommodate more LivingWell members and guests.
Willy Blattner, the General Manager of The Caledonian Hilton, says: 'This refurbishment, encouraged by our guests, signals the Caley moving into the 21st Century. The unique history of the building combined with this new, more contemporary look and the modern facilities guests now expect, ensures The Caledonian Hilton remains a prime destination in our vibrant city. Come visit!'
Originally opened in 1903, 'The Caley' - as the hotel is fondly known - exudes traditional character. Conveniently located on Princes Street, the Edwardian sandstone exterior and stately architecture has made the hotel one of the most famous landmarks in Edinburgh.
