. October 14, 2008

ATLANTA, GA, March 6, 2006. Hymans, 46, was a 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry and one of the extended-stay segment's most knowledgeable and experienced professionals. He had been Vice President of the Southeast Region for Hyatt Select Hotels and its AmeriSuites and Summerfield Suites brands since September of last year. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Operations for the Hawthorn Suites brand of US Franchise Systems, Inc. (USFS), and instrumental in a decade of managing its growth and development.

"Steve was a loyal employee, a talented hotelier, and a good friend to his coworkers, the franchise community and the entire industry," said Mike Leven, President and CEO of USFS. "Above all, he was one of the kindest people I have ever known and will be sorely missed by all who came in contact with him."

Hymans joined USFS shortly after the company's inception in 1995 and oversaw all of Hawthorn Suite's operating and marketing functions including National Sales, Frequency Marketing, Franchise Services, Training and Sales Support. He came to USFS with an extensive background in the management of such extended-stay chains as Residence Inn and Summerfield Suites. Prior to entering the extended-stay market, Hymans served as a General Manager and Supervisor of Regional Operations for US Hotel Properties. He got his start in the hotel industry working for Harley Hotels.

A native of Ann Arbor, Mich., Hymans attended Michigan State University's Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management Program. He received a General Manager's Program Diploma from Holiday Inn University.

Expressions of condolences may be sent to his parents, Saul and Eileen Hymans, at 3020 Exmoor Rd., Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104.
