Hotel Brokers International Appoints New Board of Directors

MARCH 15, 2006. Hotel Brokers International appointed its 2006 Board of Directors during the organization's annual meeting held in Las Vegas in February. Teague Hunter, CHB, was elected president of the organization and succeeds Dick Lopez, CHB, president of Lodging Property Brokers, a Napa, California-based hotel brokerage.

Hunter is vice president of Hunter Realty Associates located in Atlanta, Georgia. Established in 1978, Hunter Realty is a premier hotel real estate brokerage firm and founder of the Hotel Investment Conference. Hunter brings to his term as president an impressive professional record. Recognized as HBI's salesperson of the year in 2005, Hunter also captured top honors as regional salesperson in 2001, 2002 and 2004. He holds the certification of CHB (Certified Hotel Broker) and is currently an instructor with the program. Prior to joining Hunter Realty, he was a client representative with IBM.

The 11-member board includes three other officers: Charlie Fritsch, CHB, MBA Hotel Brokers, vice president; Jeff Westgor, CHB, Westgor & Associates, secretary; and Brandt Niehaus, CHB, Huff, Niehaus & Associates, treasurer.

The remaining members of the board are: Steve Blue, CHB; Scoggin Blue; Joe McCann, CHB, Optimum Hotel Brokerage; Jennifer Church, CHB, Milmark Hotel/Motel Investments; Lili Gewargis, Brash Realty Company; Steve Ferrarini, CHB, ProCom Lodging Brokers; Dick Lopez, CHB, Lodging Property Brokers; and Tony De George, CHB, Greene Canfield De George.

At the inaugural ceremony, Lopez was also recognized for his outstanding contributions as president. Lopez was instrumental in increasing HBI's participation in industry trade shows and in strengthening the organization's partnership with its affiliate members. During his term, HBI more than doubled its sales dollar volume.
