Biltmore Reopens After $40 mil Renovation
With New Facilities, a Hip and Happening Activity Program and a 'Classically Contemporary Attitude
CORAL GABLES, FL, June 16, 2006. The iconic Biltmore hotel, long favored by experienced travelers, heads of state, celebrities and sports stars, has introduced several new high-profile facilities, amenities and services designed to make the property Miami's most sophisticated and multi-faceted resort experience.
Featured in the new developments are a luxury spa, a new poolside restaurant and bar, private, furnished poolside cabanas and other enhancements to facilities and grounds. These are part of an investment of more than $40 million that began with the renovation of the property's 276 guest accommodations, of which 133 are suites, improvements to the golf course and re-conceptualizing The Biltmore's restaurants to offer dining choices second to none in the Southeast. Most recently that effort was rewarded with the resort's signature restaurant - Palme d'Or - being named "Best Restaurant in South Florida" by the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association.
The new Biltmore Spa is a sanctuary of beauty and serenity located on the seventh floor of the hotel with panoramic views of Coral Gables and the property's lushly landscaped grounds and golf course. Recently accepted as a member of "Leading Spas of the World," the Zen-inspired spa features an extensive menu of treatments and services, including a series of signature Chardonnay massages, scrubs, and baths, an inviting relaxation lounge, retail area and full-service hair and nail salon.
The Biltmore Pool, a favorite of filmmakers, the fashion industry and jet setters, is by far one of the property's most distinctive features with its waterfall tower and 700,000 gallons of water making it the largest hotel pool in America. Further enlivening The Biltmore's Pool experience is the new Boules Bar and al fresco Cascade Restaurant, featuring a diverse menu ranging from Florida stone crab to char-grilled churasco steaks to healthy, organic spa cuisine. The pool is also the setting for a new series of "Hip and Happening" food, beverage and entertainment events, including Martini Mondays, Glam Fridays showcasing The Biltmore Bathing Beauties and synchronized water show, Live@Poolside featuring jazz and live band performances, and a Sunday Guayaba@Cascade brunch and pig roast.
Across the pool, with palms, hibiscus and bougainvillea creating a setting of seductive privacy, are the Biltmore's new Cabana Suites. These discrete sanctuaries, with a dedicated staff of cabana butlers, are furnished with overstuffed chaise lounges wrapped in Egyptian cotton, with rich wood furniture, mosaic tile finishes, outdoor showers, even internet access. The Cabana Suites are available day and night with dining and spa service options.
Other improvements to facilities include substantial work on the classic 6,400-yard Donald Ross-designed golf course, adding 10 acres, and improving fairways, greens and landscaping as well as introducing high-tech carts, renovated locker facilities and a remodeled golf shop. The Biltmore Golf Course is home to the John Pallot Golf Academy and the Junior Orange Bowl Golf Championship, with Sergio Garcia and Tiger Woods among its illustrious alumnae.
