Mamoru Tsutsumi Appointed President of JAL Hotels Co., Ltd.

TOKYO, Japan, June 27, 2006. JAL Hotels Co., Ltd., which operates the Nikko Hotels International (NHI) group of luxury international hotels and Hotel JAL City, a mid-priced chain of hotels for business travelers in Japan, announced at its annual shareholders meeting and board of directors meeting today the retirement of current president Shosuke Machida and the appointment of a new president, Mamoru Tsutsumi, who is currently senior executive vice president.

Tsutsumi began working at Japan Air Lines Co., Ltd. after graduating from Tokyo University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law. In 1998, he transferred to JAL Hotels Co., Ltd., and a year later he was appointed Vice President & Regional Manager, Seoul, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. In 2002, he was appointed Executive Officer & Deputy General Manager, Cargo & Mail, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. only to be appointed as Executive Officer & General Manager, Strategy and Planning, International Passenger, Japan Airlines International Co., Ltd. one year later. In April 2005, he served as Advisor, Japan Airlines International Co., Ltd. and became Senior Executive Vice President, JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. within one month's time.

Machida became president of JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. in 1999. Over the last seven years, he managed to successfully transform the company's business model from owner & management style to operation specialist, minimize debts and improved the company's financial situation, and expand the company's properties managed (NHI and Hotel JAL City) from 51 hotels to 63 hotels worldwide.
