Mr. Patrick Burke Named Chairman of the Board for Small Luxury Hotels of the World
JULY 11, 2006. Mr. Patrick Burke, Managing Director of The Atlantic Hotel in Jersey, United Kingdom, has been named Chairman of the Board for Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), a non-profit organization made up of over 370 of the world's finest independent luxury hotels in 60 countries. Mr. Burke succeeds Mr. Jonathan Slater of The Chester Grosvenor Hotel who will remain on the Board as a Director.
Mr. Burke has been a member of SLH since 1993 and has faithfully served on the Board of Directors since 1999. He ascends to Chairman at a very exciting time for SLH as the brand has seen tremendous membership growth, as well as increased reservations revenue and industry accolades. Mr. Burke commented, "I am honoured to serve as Chairman of SLH and pledge to continue the fantastic growth the brand has seen over the last several years. Along with the other Directors, I hope to not only maintain the exceptional value and results SLH brings to member hotels, but improve upon it and make Small Luxury Hotels of the World the preeminent luxury hotel brand for independent hotels to belong."

About Mr. Burke
Mr. Burke succeeded his father as Managing Director of Jersey's Atlantic Hotel in 1987 and soon embarked on a development programme to upgrade every aspect of the property - a process which led to The Atlantic's admission into membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World in 1993. Over the years The Atlantic has won many awards under his leadership including a Gold Ribbon from the RAC, four red stars and three rosettes from the AA, the AA's Courtesy and Care Award for England, Johansens Business Meeting Hotel of the Year and most recently a Michelin Rising Star.
Mr. Burke is deeply committed to the continuing success of SLH and has attended every conference since 1995. During his tenure, he has managed to visit some 65 member properties around the world and has a true understanding of what the membership needs. He intends to put the experience and knowledge he has gained to good use on behalf of all in membership.
Patrick is married to Treena and they have three sons, Harry, George and Tom.
