Westin Jersey City Newport Adds Two New Team Members
OCtober 27, 2009 - The Westin Jersey City has appointed Karen Serritella and Elizabeth Stacey as sales manager and catering manager respectively. Serritella will be responsible for sales focusing on key corporate accounts and growing leisure customer base. Stacey joins the catering department that handles a wide range of events including banquets, meetings and corporate functions and weddings which are very popular at the hotel.
Prior to joining The Westin Jersey City, Serritella worked with the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel, New Jersey, as corporate group sales manager where she was responsible for acquiring new accounts and the negotiation and execution of contracts. She was also directly in charge of managing the Sheraton Parsippany's account base of over $4 million annually. Previously, she was Senior Sales Manager at the Headquarters Plaza Hotel in Morristown, NJ. Serritella began her career in the sales industry as the owner and president of her own company, The Nutty Fruit, a multi-unit wholesale and retail organization which increased gross revenues by over 500% in 4 years; and she then proceeded to run Diane's Country Kitchen Inc., as owner and president. At Diane's Country Kitchen, she increased sales from over $100K initially to over $1.5 million annually while overseeing a staff of over 35 people.
Stacey was senior catering sales manager at The Hilton Short Hills Hotel & Spa in New Jersey before joining The Westin Jersey City Hotel. Among her many responsibilities at The Hilton Short Hills, she managed a catering team that was responsible for booking social events, including but not limited to weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, bridal showers, galas, fundraisers and corporate functions. Before that, Stacey was catering sales manager at The Westin Governor Morris Hotel where she supervised a wide range of event bookings and creating strategic marketing plans to grow their social and corporate function sales. She holds a masters degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and a bachelors in the theory and practice of media communications from Drew University in New Jersey.
