Sharon Kilmartin Appointed GM of InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel
OCTOBER 28, 2009 - InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has appointed Sharon Kilmartin to General Manager of the 189-room InterContinental Stephen F. Austin and Regional Director of Operations of the 485-room InterContinental Houston Hotel.
Kilmartin is a results-oriented operations specialist with 21 years of experience in the hotel industry, of which 18 years have been devoted to Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts.
As General Manager of the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin, Kilmartin is responsible for the 189-room city hotel, including oversight and management of the 100-plus staff, rooms, and food and beverage operations with the objective of maintaining the highest levels of guest satisfaction.
As Regional Director of Operations of the InterContinental Houston Hotel, Kilmartin is responsible for creating synergies, economic opportunities and overseeing both InterContinental Hotels in Texas.
Prior to her appointment at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin, Kilmartin was the General Manager of the 402-room InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino in Isla Verde, an AAA 4-diamond beachfront resort in Puerto Rico, with 18,000 square feet of meeting space for up to 600 people.
Kilmartin increased guest satisfaction by 10% and employee satisfaction by 20% and under her tenure, the InterContinental San Juan invested $7 million to upgrade its guestrooms and lobby as well as implemented guest activities for adults and children.
Kilmartin's experience includes the position of General Manager of the 528-room Intercontinental Dallas Hotel in Texas with 100,000 square feet of meeting space. She was also General Manager at the 289-room Intercontinental May Fair London in England.
Kilmartin, a native of California, graduated from the University of San Francisco majoring in Hospitality Management. She was a member of the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association and SKAL Puerto Rico.
