Allan W. Kronberg Named GM for Tropicana Express and the River Palms
Laughlin, Nevada
LAS VEGAS, NV, November 16, 2009 - Tropicana Entertainment, LLC today announced that Allan W. Kronberg has been named General Manager of the company's two resort casinos serving customers in Laughlin, Nevada. Kronberg's appointment to the GM post for Tropicana Express and for the River Palms Resort and Casino is effective immediately, according to Tropicana CEO Scott C. Butera.
Kronberg has more than three decades of hospitality and gaming management experience. He has managed Five Star resorts and gaming facilities in the US and Canada where he has successfully implemented continuous improvement and customer assurance practices with companies like Hyatt and Cendant.
Previous GM Terry Schneider will remain with the company to assist with special projects at both Tropicana Express and River Palms. “Terry has done an excellent job during our transition phase,” said Butera, “and we are looking forward to a continued partnership with him in the years ahead.”
Prior to signing on with Tropicana Entertainment, Kronberg had been General Manager and Director of Hospitality for four years at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota. At Treasure Island he was responsible for all of the resort's operations including a casino with 2,500 slots, 44 table games and a poker room; and a hotel with 488 rooms, five restaurants and a dining cruise boat.
In previous years, Kronberg held top sales, marketing and business development positions with Colony Hotel Palm Beach (FL), Boutique Hotels and Resorts International, Noble House Hotels and Resorts, and the Cape Codder Sheraton Hotel. He also is a former operations director and assistant general manager of the 2.5 million square foot Casino Niagara in Ontario, Canada.
“Allan is in the mold of the new general managers we are installing at Tropicana Entertainment's properties,” Butera said. “He has exceptional employee leadership skills, a successful track record in hotel and casino management, and a strong customer service orientation. We're very pleased to have him at the helm for our operations in Laughlin.”
In addition to his operating experience, Kronberg has served as an executive with major hotel and hospitality trade associations. He was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for the California Hotel and Lodging Association and he was chief operating officer for the Educational Institute of the American Hotel Management Association.
Kronberg is an honorary professor in the hotel management school at Florida International University. He has served on the boards of directors of the Scottsdale (AZ) Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Minnesota Hospitality Education Board, the Redondo Beach Visitors Bureau and the Oklahoma State University Hotel Board. While at Treasure Island, he served on the Boards of the Minnesota chapters of the American Diabetes and Muscular Dystrophy Associations.
