Hyatt Regency Baltimore Wins Mayor's Business Award, Diversity Trailblazer Award
BALTIMORE, MD - (March 22, 2010) - The Hyatt Regency Baltimore has received two prestigious awards recognizing its long-term commitment to the local community as well as its dedication to promoting diversity in the workplace - the Mayor's Business Recognition Award and a Diversity Trailblazer Award.
The Hyatt was honored with a recent Mayor's Business Recognition Award from the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) for the successful efforts of the hotel's Family of Responsible and Caring Employees (F.O.R.C.E.) program, a community outreach initiative.
Through the Hyatt's F.O.R.C.E. program, Baltimore hotel employees participate in community projects on paid company time. In 2009, they volunteered almost 300 hours to coach and mentor dozens of Baltimore area students and families. The Hyatt Baltimore also donated goods and services to support local non-profits and organizations that improve the quality of life in the region.
According to the GBC, the Mayor's Award is a salute to the Hyatt for its more than 25 years of civic leadership and community service. Information is available at http://gbc.org/news/1525/.
During the 11th Annual Minority Business Summit last month, Hyatt Baltimore General Manager Gail Smith-Howard was presented with the Diversity Trailblazer Award from the Visionary Marketing Group, a national leader in the promotion of diversity and inclusion. The Hyatt was championed for its local, regional, and national diversity programs that train women and minorities for careers in the hospitality industry.
The Hyatt Regency Baltimore, the longest AAA four-diamond award-winning hotel in Maryland, is a landmark on the City's Inner Harbor. The high quality of the Hyatt's guest rooms, along with its commitment to exceptional service, recently earned the hotel the ranking as top hotel in Maryland by Expedia's Insiders' Select, a list representing the top one per cent of its hotels and resorts.
