Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay Wins Two at WTA
MAY 7, 2010 - Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay in Oman has been voted the 'Middle East's Leading Luxury Beach Resort' and 'Oman's Leading Resort' at the Grand Final of the World Travel Awards - also known as the travel industry 'Oscars'.
In a worldwide survey conducted by the World Travel Awards, amongst 183,000 professionals in the travel and tourism industry, Zighy Bay is immensely proud to have received two such coveted awards, especially in a market of such tough competition.
The resort received the award at a presentation ceremony held in Dubai coinciding with the start of the Arabian Travel Market - one of the world's largest travel fairs. The first award, 'Middle East's Leading Luxury Beach Resort' was received on behalf of Zighy Bay by Her Excellency Dr. Rajiha Bint Abdul Ameer Bin Ali, Minister of Tourism for the Sultanate of Oman. The second, 'Oman's Leading Resort' was accepted by Wayne Lunt, Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay's Resort Manager. Sheikh Sultan Al Qassim, one of Zighy Bay's owners and Rochelle Kilgariff, General Manager of Zighy Bay were both present at the ceremony.
Since it opened in November 2008, Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay has been recognised in some of the travel industry's most respected arenas, particularly when it won 'The World's Leading New Resort' in the World Travel Awards 2009.
On receiving the 'Middle East's Leading Luxury Beach Resort' award, Her Excellency Dr Rajiha expressed her satisfaction that Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay has once again been recognised for its unique location and excellent services. As the Middle East's leading luxury beach resort, Zighy Bay contributes to and supports the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism to develop Oman as the new 'must-go' luxury tourist destination.
