Jayne Barrett New GM Doubletree Boston Downtown
October 28, 2010 - Doubletree Hotels today announced the appointment of Jayne Barrett to general manager of the 267-room Doubletree Hotel Boston Downtown.
A native of Ireland, she succeeds Stephen Pole, who has assumed the role of general manager at the Doubletree Hotel Boston Bayside. In her new position, Barrett will oversee daily operations at the Theatre District hotel, which is located near Chinatown, Boston Common and Tufts Medical Center.
Barrett brings to this position a strong familiarity with the Boston market, having served as general manager of the former Doubletree Hotel in Lowell, Mass. for three years and most recently as general manager of the 256-room Hilton Boston Dedham. Throughout the course of her accomplished 20-year career in hospitality management, Barrett has consistently exceeded sales expectations at large and mid-sized properties across the country. Her wealth of hospitality experience, personable management style and excellent marketing skills will help position the Doubletree Hotel Boston Downtown as a strong competitor in the state's economic and cultural hub.

Prior to her tenure at the Hilton Boston Dedham, Barrett served as general manager with several other properties managed by The Procaccianti Group (TPG), a Rhode Island-based real estate investment company. She oversaw a $25 million renovation and re-branding of the former 626-room Grosvenor Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., managed a $3 million renovation of the former 249-room Holiday Inn Select in Orlando, Fla., and increased guest rankings at the former 252-room Doubletree Hotel in Lowell, Mass. Under Barrett's direction, catering and sales revenue, employee satisfaction scores and operational efficiencies also improved at these properties, respectively.
Previously, Barrett spent five years with Columbia Sussex Corporation, a Kentucky-based private hospitality company. During this time, she held general manager and assistant general manager positions at Crowne Plaza and Renaissance-branded properties in Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Her successes included the management of two hotel conversions along with the $1.5 million renovation of the 364-room Crowne Plaza Detroit - Metro Airport.
Barrett is a graduate of Ard Scoil Mhuire in Limerick, Ireland. She resides in Quincy, Mass.
