Wequassett Resort and Golf Club Appoints Exec Chef to Lead Culinary Program

. April 21, 2011

April 20, 2011 - Wequassett Resort and Golf Club, Cape Cod's only AAA Four Diamond and Forbes Four Star resort, is pleased to announce James Hackney as the new Executive Chef of twenty-eight Atlantic, the resort's signature fine dining restaurant. Residing in a destination rich with maritime history and steeped in traditions of cuisine crafted around local seafood and produce, twenty-eight Atlantic is a perennial favorite among discerning gourmands in Cape Cod.

“We are thrilled to welcome Executive Chef James Hackney to the Wequassett family,” says Mark Novota, Managing Partner at Wequassett, “James brings the perfect mix of passion and vision that will impress the discerning guests of twenty-eight Atlantic, who have come to expect the finest cuisine on the Cape here at Wequassett. This summer will bring many new exciting additions to the twenty-eight Atlantic experience.”

Believing that food should create a lasting memory, Chef Hackney was inspired by Wequassett's distinguished reputation, waterfront location and the quaintness and tranquility of the surrounding area. His menus will have an emphasis on local seafood and a natural influence. Hackney comes to twenty-eight Atlantic having most recently served as Executive Chef at Boston's legendary L'Espalier, located in the Back Bay of the city. While there Chef Hackney garnered legions of fans craving his signature farm-to-table inspired dishes and seasonally changing menu. Originally hailing from Leicestershire, England, Hackney was inspired to begin a career in the culinary world by working in his parents' Garden Hotel, a quaint inn residing in the English countryside where farm-to-table is a way of life. Hackney would eventually move on to the title of Chef de Partie at notable restaurants such Blantyre, a Relais & Chateaux property in Lenox, Massachusetts, in addition to Charlie Palmer's Aquaterra in Palm Beach, Florida and La Vieille Maison in Boca Raton, Florida.

Hackney received his culinary education from Southfields College in Leiscester, United Kingdom.

Wequassett's signature fine dining and Forbes Four Star restaurant, twenty-eight Atlantic, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with seasonal menus changing based on the best of Cape Cod's produce and seafood. Carefully cultivated relationships with local farmers and fisherman ensure diners are presented with only the best in locally sourced ingredients. A spacious yet intimate feeling dining room beckons diners with dramatic stone fireplaces, shaker style furnishings, hand blown glass chandeliers and nautical etchings. Sweeping floor to ceiling windows offer dramatic views of Pleasant Bay and spectacular sunsets as guests dine.
