ALEXANDRIA, VA - June 8, 2011 - Washington Suites Alexandria, one of the leading all-suite hotels in the Greater Washington region, recently completed an upgrade of its amenities, including a $70,000 refurbishment of its outdoor swimming pool, just in time for the summer swim season. A spacious new $175,000 breakfast room was also added to the 219- all suite business-class hotel which is a favored destination for business, government, and military travelers arriving in the Washington area on long-term assignments.

Pool Opens May 28

The 65,000-gallon, 1,815 square foot swimming pool, capable of accommodating up to 67 bathers, was opened for the season on May 28. A popular amenity among guests at Washington Suites Alexandria, the pool goes from a three-foot play area to an eight and a half-foot diving end. Fountain jets form a water canopy over the pool lighting of decorative blue and white lights. This lighting illuminates the pool area, while underwater lighting allows bathers to swim beneath the gleaming surface at night with a clear view in all directions of the freshly painted pool. It also includes a newly painted concrete deck, as well as new poolside furniture and windsocks in a patriotic color scheme of red, white and blue. The pool is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily beginning Memorial Day until Labor Day.

Two Thousand Square-Foot Breakfast Room

The completed construction of a 2,000 square-foot breakfast room with seating for up to 125 guests is now available to serve its daily complimentary continental breakfast. Decorated in soothing tones of blue with elegant white wainscoting, the room is lit by abundant natural lighting from large windows facing the front of the property. Other new features include two wide-screen HDTVs strategically placed at each end of the room, a Make-Your-Own waffle station, and a deluxe coffee station dispensing high-quality Caribou Coffee.

Comfort and Affordability for the Long-Term Traveler

Washington Suites has earned the reputation for its comfortable accommodations at affordable prices. Guests may reserve a spacious suite which includes a fully equipped kitchen and dining area allowing families the opportunity to prepare meals for the entire family on a great budget. Suites also include a large workspace and 42” LCD Flat Screen televisions. An on-site fitness center and a 24-hour business center with free Internet and printers are also included amenities. A Special Economy Packages offer guests a $50 credit to local restaurants or a complimentary rental compact car for guests staying a minimum of seven days (car provided upon arrival with prior arrangements with the hotel).
