Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa on Mission Bay Slated for $1.1 Million Renovation

Resort Plans to Upgrade All Meeting & Pre-Function Areas To Mirror Resort's Mediterranean Design

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 1, 2011 - Nestled on 18 tropical landscaped acres overlooking Mission Bay, The Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa plans on renovating its function and event space beginning December 2011, according to General Manager Gregg Fracassa.

Conceptualized by Dawson Design Associates, Inc., out of Seattle, the $1.1 million renovation will include a complete refurbishment of the resort's pre-function space and public foyers and its three main ballrooms and breakout rooms. The renovation is expected to be completed by January 2012 prior to the resort's prime conference and event season.

According to Fracassa, the custom design of the carpet patterns, wall coverings, furnishings, lighting and accent pieces will be contemporized by the mix of shapes, finishes and colors to blend with the resort's current contemporary design with a Mediterranean flair. Included in the current renovation to the resort's 25,200 square feet of contiguous meeting space will be all new plush, custom carpeting in the pre-function and ballroom areas combined with a mix of pronounced textured wall coverings and eye-catching designs throughout the pre-function venues and corridors.

Of additional importance and benefit to planners, the resort is also upgrading its wireless internet systems, AV technology and upgrading all televisions to high definition flat screens throughout the conference center. “This renovation is in response to the feedback and comments that our valued planners and corporate partners have shared with us,” said Fracassa. “We realize these important groups have a multitude of meeting destinations and resorts from which to choose when planning their conference, and their constructive feedback is critical to our success and to the overall success of their meeting.”

The color palette features the contrast between the shades of rich indigo and classic ecru that echo the colors of the waves and sand running parallel to the property. Custom fabrics and materials have been specifically chosen to complement new furnishings with notable sleek lines and rattan like accents. New lounge chairs, benches, framed sofas, and straight-lined consoles share Mission-style design influences incorporating solid oak and mahogany wood. Accent pieces include wrought iron and glass based table lamps, glass top coffee tables, contemporary new floor lamps and a variety of sleek, shaded wall sconces.

The Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa offers the ideal meeting destination to balance business with pleasure.
