Double Award Win for Architect CT's Hotel Scheme

. September 23, 2011

September 22, 2011 - Within six months of being completed, Ellenborough Park, a new hotel and spa in Cheltenham has won two of this year's World Travel Awards (WTA) for the UK's Leading Country House Hotel and the UK's Leading Spa Hotel. Ellenborough Park is the only hotel in the UK to have achieved two awards and one of only 15 hotels in the whole of the UK to receive a World Travel Award this year. These awards are considered to be the 'Oscars' of the travel and tourism industry and were recently presented at the 17th Gala Ceremony in Antalya, Turkey.

Architect CT led this 3-year multi million pound project to design and manage the refurbishment of the former Hotel de la Bere. The Grade II* listed manor house dating back to the 16th Century was completely renovated and the newly built luxury accommodation has increased the capacity of the hotel to 62 bedrooms.

Principal Architect Paul Brook said “Although our expertise in converting listed buildings spans more than 25 years this has been the most rewarding project we have ever been involved with, bringing together modern facilities but retaining the beautiful features of the original building.”

Graham Vass, Ellenborough Park's General Manager, said: “With strong competition from some of the UK's long established luxury hotels it was amazing to receive two awards with the winning votes coming from 213,000 fellow industry professionals across the world.”

He continued “the two awards are an incredible testimony to the vision of the Architect CT team and the owners. Ellenborough Park is now a fine development that has been well designed and the project management was incredible. Working at times with a 140 strong project team Architect CT met all our stringent financial guidelines and even last minute changes were successfully incorporated before our initial soft opening in February.”

Finally, Graham Vass added: “Not one but two WTA accolades will make us even more enthusiastic about delivering a high level of service to all our guests and retain our new status as the top luxury country house hotel and spa in the UK.”
