R.D. Olson Construction Begins Extensive Renovation at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach

. February 15, 2012

IRVINE, CA - February 14, 2012 - R.D. Olson Construction has begun major renovations to the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. The hotel, located at 200 South Pine Avenue has long been known to lure visitors of the city's Convention Center because of its close proximity. The hotel is owned by Hyatt Development.

"We have built and renovated several Long Beach hotels as part of the city's plan to reinvent itself,” said R.D. Olson Construction CEO, Robert Olson. “This particular hotel has become a staple in the area and a fresh look will be welcomed by its many guests.”

R.D. Olson, an Irvine-based builder that has its signature on many new and renovated hotels throughout Southern California, has plans to completely renovate more than 500 rooms. These rooms will transform into a fresh and friendly pallet of gray-toned paint and carpet, complemented by light birch millwork and wood furnishings. In renovating the bathrooms, R.D. Olson will include a standup shower where there once was only a tub, and install electric backlit mirrors and millwork vanities.

Blueprints also call for renovation of six suites located on the 17th floor. Two of these are executive suites, which will feature an enhanced sleeping area and large living space. Most will be enriched by parlors with guest rooms, entertainment seating and white oak walls that crawl onto the ceiling to cover it for a dramatic and smooth presentation. Presidential suites also will enjoy this innovate look, but additionally house a parlor with a guest room and entertainment seating. The project cost will total $9.5.

Anderson/Miller Ltd, a Chicago-based firm with many prestigious hospitality clients, is credited for the interior design.

The expected completion date for the Hyatt Regency Long Beach renovation is set for March 2012.
