La Samanna Reopens in St.Martin with Completion of Extensive Renovation Project
December 11, 2012 - Located on the French side of St. Martin, La Samanna has completed the second phase of an extensive renovation project. Revitalizing its long-standing reputation as the ultimate luxury Caribbean destination, the Orient-Express property now features two new restaurants and a revamped lobby with sea views as part of the redesigned main building, as well as refurbished suites and rooms.
“La Samanna has been a quintessential Caribbean hideaway for more than three decades,” said General Manager Pascal Deyrolle. “While preserving the property's authenticity is at the forefront of our Orient-Express approach, our doors reopen this season with revamped facilities and offerings designed specifically to bring back the glamour of luxury travel to St. Martin and the Caribbean.”
Flavors of La Samanna
Deepening the appreciation for culinary diversity, La Samanna's food & beverage offerings tastefully feature French, Mediterranean and Caribbean flavors. The redesigned main building consists of two new restaurants. Overlooking the pristine Caribbean Sea, Trellis complements French cuisine with an expansive Cote du Rhone selection, while Interlude is a casual option for al fresco breakfast and dinner.
The newly remodeled Baie Longue Bar, aptly named after the world-renowned beach the property sits on, is an ideal spot for evening cocktails or an intimate outdoor gathering. The Beach Bar serves lunch with fresh seafood, snacks and salads, complemented with Caribbean-inspired concoctions.
For special occasions and celebrations, guests can reserve La Cave for a wine-pairing dinner, curated by Head Sommelier Christian Mirande from more than 12,000 bottles representing over 410 varietals. Guests can also select from the new 24/7 room service menu, including Asian, Caribbean and American fare.
Luxurious Accommodations
83 meticulously decorated, oceanview rooms and suites present the ideal balance between modern comforts and effortless island living. The fresh design blends traditional whites, paying homage to property's history dating back to 1972, with soft Mediterranean hued accents, which abound at the resort's natural setting. Each room features original artwork by local artists, which depict scenes or locations in St. Martin and the Caribbean. Etchings from renowned Caribbean artist, Sir Roland Richardson, who has been the property's resident artist for many years, hang in each room and Richardson's noted oil paintings adorn the walls of the property's celebrated suites. In addition, artist Antoine Chapon, a 25-year resident of the island, is represented by his beautiful watercolor prints, which reflect the local Caribbean culture.
The Villas at La Samanna embody a luxurious Caribbean lifestyle where complete indulgence awaits. Entirely self-contained and private, each of these oceanfront three- and four-bedroom residences offer 4,600 square feet of sumptuous splendor including a full kitchen, dining room, indoor and outdoor living room, wrap-around terraces and a stunning infinity edge pool.
Wellness Retreat
La Samanna's award-winning spa features seven treatment rooms, including five indoor/outdoor suites - each with a private Zen garden and outdoor shower. The new menu with Sisley and Pure Altitude products includes such diverse options from Roucou Pre-Tanning Treatment and Thai Reflexogy to Angel Bliss Program for younger guests. Fitness facilities include a Pilates studio, Peter Burwash International managed tennis courts, and personal trainer services.
