Lausanne, Switzerland's Beau-Rivage Palace Completes First Phase of Major Renovation
Unveils 37 Newly Renovated Rooms and Suites; the $28 Million Project Including 61 Additional Guestrooms will be Complete in April 2014
,Lausanne, Switzerland - May 22, 2013 - The renowned Beau-Rivage Palace, Lausanne's destination for the world's elite and jet-set for over 150 years, has completed the first phase of a major renovation, unveiling 37 new guestrooms and two luxury suites in the hotel's Palace Wing. With 61 additional guestrooms set to be completed in April 2014, the renovation will cost approximately US$28 million and is being overseen by acclaimed interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.
All rooms feature the prominent use of mirrors to illuminate the space and reflect light from Lake Geneva. Each room is individually tailored depending on its specific shape, and the color palette consists of light green, beige and sky blue, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Junior Suites are adorned with Murano blown-glass chandeliers, and each room features a traditional fabric-covered wall. Rochon placed a particular focus on the bathrooms, constructing them to be bright and extremely spacious, and adding refined touches such as Italian mosaic floors, beveled mirrors with built-in televisions and illuminated glass ceilings. Some rooms feature a transparent wall between the bathroom and bedroom, making the lake viewable directly from the bathroom.
The first phase of the renovation includes two suites: the first, a fifth-floor duplex that features two lavishly decorated bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, and a stunning view of Lake Geneva and the French Alps; and the second, a spa-suite that includes a master bedroom with a 180-degree view of the lake and Alps, a lounge area with a fireplace, and a 50-square-meter spa area with two massage tables, a Jacuzzi and a hammam. The best part: Guests saying in the spa suite can take in-room advantage of all treatments offered at the Beau-Rivage Palace's lavish Cinq Mondes Spa.
Apart from aesthetics, the environment was also of utmost concern when planning the renovation. Each room's temperature and light intensity are electronically controlled according to how many people are in the room, the time of day and the season, and a natural air conditioning system is employed, in which fresh water from the lake is processed into cool air.
