Travel Leaders Welcome Rep. Gus Bilirakis as New Co-chair of Congressional Travel and Tourism Caucus
WASHINGTON - October 10, 2013 - The U.S. Travel Association today applauded the ascension of U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) as the new co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Travel and Tourism Caucus alongside Sam Farr (D-CA), co-chair of the Caucus since 1997.
"Rep. Bilirakis understands the importance of travel to the U.S. economy and communities across America," said U.S. Travel President and CEO Roger Dow. "Already an active member of the Caucus, he will bring experience, good judgment and great ideas to his new role, complementing the already outstanding leadership of his co-chair Mr. Farr."
Travel is America's No.1 services export, and the travel industry has added jobs at a rate three times faster than the rest of the U.S. economy since 2010. The Congressional Travel and Tourism Caucus is a vital link between America's travel community and the U.S. Congress. It is a reliable champion of the travel industry and the traveling public.
"We are thrilled to welcome Rep. Bilirakis as our newest travel leader on Capitol Hill. His dedication and energy will be critical assets as Congress addresses important issues that affect travel," said Dow.
