'Ladies Only' Floor at Presidente InterContinental Mexico City Offers an Elevated Level of Comfort

Accomodation is a response to ever-increasing numbers of solo women travelers

MEXICO CITY, Mexico, August 16, 2005. For women flying to a travel destination, the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City has a floor with their name on it. The designated 'Ladies Floor' at this Presidente InterContinental property gives jet-set ladies an added sense of security, not to mention additional "much needed" amenities, to ensure they have a worry-free and pleasurable experience in one of the world's great capitals.

It is no secret that the amount of solo women travelers has increased significantly over the past few years. In addition to those much needed 'alone-time' getaways, the female business traveler is a primary contributor to this large traveling group. According to statistics, women comprise 40 percent of all business travelers today, up 5000 percent since 1970. As the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City has long been the ideal choice for business travelers - it is conveniently located across from the convention center in the trendy Polanco District and boasts one of the city's largest business centers-the hotel took note of this growing customer base and created an amenity to cater directly to them, a 'Ladies Floor'.

Providing guests extra security and privacy, the 'Ladies Floor' requires a special key to grant access to the floor, and quite literally allows only women admittance. This includes an all female staff (such as room and maid service) in addition to only female guests to further offer a sense of privacy and safe-keeping.

The floor consists of 26 rooms which offer both city and park views, as well as a multitude of extra female-specific amenities including:

*Mini bars stocked with extra diet soft drinks, women's stockings, and health-foods

*Feminine towels, manicure kits, aromatherapy oils, nail polish and nail polish remover supplied in bathrooms

*A rack of women's magazines

"Sometimes when women are traveling alone they appreciate the extra comfort zone they get with the 'Ladies Floor' " says Carlos Behnsen, vice president of sales and marketing for Presidente InterContinental Hotels and Resorts. "The high demand for the floor is a testament to the need for a service like this. As an organization we always strive to not only meet but to surpass our guests' needs and expectations. This is just one example."
