Conde Naste Readers Rank Four Seasons Resort Nevis as Top Spa
APRIL 2, 2007. The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis holds the top resort spa spot in Cond'e Nast Traveler's 2007 Spa Poll, which listed the top 56 spas in North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and at sea.
The list, determined by more than 5,000 of the magazine's discerning readers, is published in the April 2007 issue. "A Four Seasons spa has won the top resort spa spot in six of the poll's eight years," read the renowned publication. "This year, the gold goes to the Four Seasons Nevis, with 90-plus scores across the board."
"The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis is a true reflection of the natural beauty and curing properties for which the island of Nevis is celebrated," said Martin Sinclair, General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Nevis. "We are especially proud of our spa staff who impart travelers with a healing touch that induces wellness and serenity, key ingredients to any vacation."
The magazine noted that while Hawaiian favorites were still listed, a "Caribbean newcomer" took the top spot. The second and third rankings went to resort spas in Big Sur, California and Sedona, Arizona. The complete roster of spa winners can be found online at www.concierge.com/bestof/spa.
Cond'e Nast Traveler readers rated 429 spas that they had visited in the past three years on a 100-point scale. Six criteria were used to evaluate resort spas: Location/Setting, Treatments, Staff/Service, Rooms, Diet/Cuisine, Programs/Facilities and Activities. The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis received an overall score of 94.7.
The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Nevis opened in December 2002. Drawing on the inspiration of Nevis Peak, the 12,000 square foot sanctuary traverses lush tropical gardens with gingerbread-trimmed treatment cottages. The West Indian Colonial design blends native elements such as a water fountain fashioned out of an antique sugar "copper." Paying homage to the island's historic Bath Springs, the outdoor hydrotherapy circuit includes a volcanic stone Jacuzzi reminiscent of a sugar mill ruin and a Japanese-inspired cold plunge pool. Indigenous-style treatments include the Mango Sea Salt Glow, Rum Tonic and Nevisian Massage.
