. July 31, 2015

Washington, D.C (July 30, 2015) — Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association joined New American Workforce and twenty other businesses from across the country for a meeting at the White House today to discuss immigrant integration efforts.

The meeting brought together businesses who provide citizenship services to their employees with the White House, the Department of Labor and the Department of Education to talk about the importance of equipping immigrants with the opportunities, skills and training they need to succeed.

“Several of the businesses that have partnered with New American Workforce were able to speak at the White House today about the tremendous work they are doing to assist and support their employees who are pursing U.S. citizenship,” said Jennie Murray, Director of Integration Programs at the National Immigration Forum. “They are truly leading the way in their respective industries in demonstrating that their companies thrive when their employees have the opportunities, skills and status to reach their fullest potential.”

“Since our partnership began with the New American Workforce, we have helped bring citizenship services to 22 GMBHA member hotels,” said Wendy Kallergis, President & CEO at the Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association. ”Over 4,000 employees have received outreach and education and over 200 employees and family members are new American Citizens.”

“We have established great relationships with our colleagues in San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington DC and New York City” said Peggy Benua, GMBHA Chair and General Manager at the Dream South Beach Hotel. “The White House Business Roundtable was a unique opportunity to come together to share ideas and best practices. The common theme among all who attended was how to best provide this important life-long benefit to our associates and their families”
