Akihiro Nomura Named Deputy General Manager for the Kitano Hotel New York

New York, NY - December 16, 2016 - The Kitano Hotel New York, Manhattan's first and only Japanese-owned hotel, appoints Akihiro Nomura as deputy general manager. Bringing more than 25 years of hotel management experience to this dual role, Nomura supervises front office guest services and also directs the Japan-focused sales and marketing initiatives for the hotel.

As deputy general manager, Nomura is responsible for the rooms division and day-to-day operations, upholding the Kitano's tradition of extraordinary Japanese hospitality. A natural motivator, Nomura pushes his team to meet the daily needs of guests with the highest standards of quality and service. Nomura also oversees all business for Japanese markets as the dedicated liaison between Japanese clients and the sales team. In this role, Nomura leads operations management for all Japanese diplomacy and business groups, ensuring that special requests are executed properly and efficiently. With his sales acumen, Nomura hopes to maintain the Kitano's positive business growth, analyzing the viability of potential Japanese marketing efforts and developing innovative programming to drive bookings.

Nomura received his technical hospitality education at the Tokyo YMCA International Hotel School. His management career flourished at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo where he held multiple managerial positions over his 18-year tenure. Beginning in the accounting department, Nomura followed his passion for guest service in the rooms division and front office departments, rising through the ranks to become business development manager. In 2009, he took part in a major renovation project for Hawaii's Hotel Halekulani, leading the international sales team as overseas reservations manager.
