Marriott Ranks in CIO Magazine's "Bold 100"
NEW YORK, NY, August 17, 2005. Marriott International has been named by IDG's CIO magazine to its CIO 100 list for the sixth time in seven years. The magazine recognizes Marriott as an organization that exemplifies the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology. The 2005 CIO award, this year themed to honor the "Bold 100," acknowledges organizations that embrace transformational initiatives for the sake of great reward. According to the magazine, the "Bold 100" honorees "are playing not just to survive, but to win."
"This award demonstrates Marriott's position as an innovator and leader within the hospitality and travel industry in creating integrated business practices and technology solutions that enhance our guests' experiences, deliver value to our owners and franchisees, and enable our associates to provide Marriott's hallmark service every day," says Carl Wilson, Marriott International's executive vice president and chief information officer.
"The Bold 100 honorees stand out because they have dared to take on risk for the chance of reward in an extremely conservative business climate," says Abbie Lundberg, Editor-in-Chief, CIO. "These organizations are smart, inventive and determined - I offer them my warmest congratulations."
