True North Hotel Group Names Management Team for Soon to Open Residence Inn by Marriott in Jersey City, NJ
Darren Piercey, General Manager, and Kathy Mendez, Director of Sales, to open 152-suite extended stay hotel February 2017
JERSEY CITY, N.J. November 21, 2016 - True North Hotel Group, management company for a new 152-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Jersey City, N.J. currently under construction, today announced that Darren Piercey and Kathy Mendez have been appointed general manager and director of sales, respectively, for the hotel slated to open late February, 2017.
The extended stay Marriott hotel is located at 80 Christopher Columbus Drive, directly above the Grove Street Path Station at the corner of Christopher Columbus and Marin Blvd. in Jersey City. It is owned by Ironstate Development Company.
Piercey represents a strong Marriott management background throughout an equally strong 19-year hospitality career. He has opened three Marriott-branded hotels, two of which were Residence Inns, and managed hotels in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island City before joining True North Hotel Group. Piercey holds a prestigious Sales Excellence Award from Marriott.
Also a newcomer to True North Hotel Group is Mendez, who represents seven years in hotel sales and operations. Most recently serving as sales manager at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan/Chelsea, Mendez holds a Sales Productivity Certificate from Master Connections. She also holds a Master's of Science degree in Hospitality Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The Jersey City Residence Inn will feature 152 well-appointed rooms including studios and one-bedroom suites, each with separate living and sleeping areas and fully-equipped kitchens. All guests wil have access to a daily complimentary hot breakfast buffet and a bar/lounge offering a comprehensive selection of spirits.
