ISM Spa Promotes Raye Vogler to VP of Operations

USA, Atlanta, Georgia. November 17, 2020

Leading boutique management company ISM Spa announced the promotion of Raye Vogler as Vice President of Operations. A seasoned spa operator with 23 years of experience working in luxury resorts, she has been with ISM for two years ago in the role of Regional Spa Manager. In her new position, Vogler will manage re-openings in ISM's current spa properties as well as new openings at several new properties across the US.

"I am so excited to work with ISM's top management to execute our aggressive growth plans," said Vogler. "I love creating memorable experiences for spa guests and mentoring newer managers. Helping people reach their goals has been the most rewarding part of my career."

Born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, Vogler attended Michigan State University, BA in Hotel/Restaurant Management. It was a natural fit when she "accidentally" entered the spa industry 25 years ago. Her career trajectory into luxury resorts included spa director positions with Interstate Hotels, Lowes Hotels, Auberge Resorts, and Montage International.

"We are thrilled that Raye will be working with us directly to strategically manage our company's growth. Raye is an enthusiastic and forward-thinking industry leader who excels at fostering strong relationships with ISM team members and guests," said Ilana Alberico, CEO and Co-founder of ISM. "As a Certified as a Women's Business Enterprise, ISM's core values includet supporting our women team members on their upward trajectory."

The Universe chose to put Vogler and ISM on the same path. She met ISM's founders Ilana and Christina at the 2018 ISPA conference, and discovered they were in the process of building a new spa in the Savannah area, her hometown.

"There was immediate chemistry and a comfort level that doesn't happen every day. We just clicked," said Vogler. "When I found out that LOVE was ISM's leading value, it was kismet."

Hotel Law: Legal Consequences

The pandemic provoked more than a global health crisis. It also disrupted world economies, financial markets and social systems on a massive scale. Naturally, there are legal consequences associated with this kind of severe business disruption and the issues will be litigated for years to come. In the hotel industry, there are several issues that are currently germane. One issue pertains to the legal obligations hotels have to re-hire employees who were laid off due to the pandemic. Lawsuits have been filed by former employees who claim that certain promises were made to them when they were furloughed, and they are suing hotels for breach of implied contract. Another major issue involves hotels suing their insurance companies for failing to cover their business losses due to the pandemic. Still other hotels have brought lawsuits against local governments for the strict restrictions that were placed on their businesses, chiefly restaurants and bars. These are just a few of the legal issues that will be addressed in the December issue of the Hotel Business Review.
