Radisson Hotel Group announces the signing of Radisson RED London Gatwick Airport - located in proximity to the terminal at the second busiest airport in the UK. This is the second Radisson RED property at a UK airport, offering guests memorable, playful experiences in major hubs for international travel.

Set to open in Q3 2021, the creative hotel will offer 185 contemporary designed guest rooms, a bistro style restaurant and bar, a well-equipped fitness room, as well as social meeting spaces in bold design waiting to kickstart the fun.

Adela Cristea, Vice President, Head of Business Development UK & Ireland, Radisson Hotel Group, said: "We are very excited to strengthen our presence in the region with another Radisson RED property, bringing our UK & Ireland portfolio to 65 hotels and 15,000 rooms open and under development. We are grateful for the ongoing collaboration with Axcel Group, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming guests to this fun, upscale hotel at one of the most important airports in the UK."

Designed to create memorable stays, the fresh, upscale Radisson RED hotel will offer both business and leisure guests the best starting point to any holiday or business meeting. Radisson RED is an upscale hotel brand that presents a playful twist on the conventional, focusing on modern design and technology. The guest room design will be in signature Radisson RED colors, with big art paintings, comfortable furniture and wooden floors.

Radisson RED London Gatwick Airport is the second Radisson RED property to open at a UK airport. In September 2020, Radisson RED Hotel London Heathrow opened its doors at London Heathrow Airport.

Sam Patel, Managing Director in Axcel Group Limited, said: "We are delighted to continue our solid partnership with Radisson Hotel Group and successfully launch this upscale urban hotel at Gatwick Airport. Radisson Hotel Group is the leading international hotel group in the region and this project is a proof of our joint long-term commitment to the UK and its travelers."

Radisson RED London Gatwick Airport will be located only a few minutes' drive from the airport terminals, making it the ideal option for guests looking for a relaxing night's stay before or after their holiday. With excellent rapid connections to the city, the location is also perfect for business travelers visiting London or doing business with some of the global companies based in the area.

Gatwick Airport is the second busiest airport in the UK (after Heathrow) and the world's busiest single runway airport. Buses and Gatwick Airport trains are close by and offer many connections to London and the south (e.g. Brighton). Gatwick Express to London Victoria is 30 minutes and runs every 15 minutes.

Radisson Hotel Group operates to high standards of performance and advocates socially and environmentally sustainable business practices. More than ever, Radisson Hotel Group's highest priorities remain the health and safety of its guests and employees. The Group partnered with SGS, the world's leading inspection and certification company, to implement the Radisson Hotels Safety Protocol, which ensures the highest hygiene standards and strengthens the Group's existing rigorous sanitation guidelines. Sales & Marketing: Playing the Long Game

During an economic downturn, it is tempting to slash marketing budgets to make up for lost revenue. But smart hoteliers play the long game, knowing that companies who stay engaged with their customers will be the first to benefit from a rebound. Therefore, now is the time to renew and revamp sales and marketing strategies in order to be ready for what lies ahead. For example, this is a perfect time to refresh website content, social media and SEO.  The same for hotel blogs where content can be updated to give customers inspirational ideas as they begin to travel and meet again. Multimedia assets should also be revised with new photo/video shoots that provide accurate information about how setups, room configurations, and onsite offerings have changed to accommodate safer meetings and social distancing. The June Hotel Business Review will focus on the sales and marketing strategies that some hotels are adopting in anticipation of a recovery in 2021.
