Paul Hodge, owner and managing director of World Amenities, Inc., was named one of SD METRO's award-winning business professionals in its 22nd Annual 40 Under 40 Class of 2021. World Amenities is a trusted global supplier of signature skincare brands and custom amenities.

In its 22nd year, the 40 Under 40 awards program acknowledges the contributions of San Diego's young business leaders. According to SD METRO, "These young men and women shape the region's destiny and help drive the local." In Hodge's case with World Amenities global reach, his leadership affects the worldwide economy. Honorees are selected based on their personal and business achievements and community involvement."

In addition to the 40 Under 40, Hodge was recently honored as a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal's 40 NEXT Top Business Leaders Under Forty 2021; and World Amenities ranked on the 2021 Inc. 5000 fastest-growing companies in America list.

Founded in 2015 and incorporated in 2018, World Amenities is on track to continue to experience 150% YOY-managed growth.

With the onset of the pandemic, Hodge pivoted World Amenities into FDA-approved PPE products. While dealing with COVID himself, he continued to move the company forward, launching the following products: Refreshing Towelette, beCLEAN, and a full range of plastic-free necessity items, including non-plastic slippers, straw plastic, cornstarch-based, and bamboo-based amenities.

"I believe Paul is an outstanding young business executive and corporate citizen. He is a visionary and hands-on leader-well deserving of the 40 Under 40 honor," said nominator Sage Executive Group CEO Jerry Rollins. "As a member of Sage, he shares his professional enthusiasm and experience with his peers."

"It's a distinct privilege and honor to be recognized by the SD METRO as an under 40 award-winner," said owner Paul Hodge. "The awards program recognizes the contribution of people who inspire others with their leadership and accomplishments. San Diego is a vibrant community. The talent, drive, and ambition of this year's honorees are outstanding."

Architecture & Design: Welcome Home

Hotels are still very concerned about adhering to all required sanitation protocols but as the crisis wanes, they are also being relied upon to provide a space to escape and retreat in comfort. To satisfy this need, many new design trends are emerging. One such trend seeks to cultivate an environment that is comparable to the warmth and coziness  a traveler might have in their home. Lobbies are being reconfigured to resemble a family living room. For example, one leading hotel chain provides an off-lobby common area where four separate video game stations and two video games tables are furnished - all free of charge to play. Another trend is to replace traditional business centers with co-working spaces  where the lines between working and social interaction are often blurred. Finally, recognizing the impact of social media, hotels are designing specific areas to facilitate picture perfect moments (think Instagram). These are just some of the architecture and design subjects that will be covered in the November issue of the Hotel Business Review.
