Matt Engels Appointed to Tourism Advisory Council

SPOKANE, WA, October 4, 2006. Matt Engels, Vice President, Hotel Operations for the Red Lion Hotels Corporation, has been appointed to the Tourism Advisory Council of the Washington Department of Community Trade and Economic Development. Engels is a past Tourism Advisory Committee member and is the Chair-Elect of the Washington State Hotel & Lodging Association.

Engels brings over 23 years of hospitality and tourism experience to the Council. He has also served on the Vancouver Washington Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. His appointment is active immediately and ends June 30, 2007.

Engels has been with the Red Lion brand for over 20 years and has been Vice President, Hotel Operations for Red Lion Hotels Corporation since 2002.

The Tourism Advisory Committee was created by the legislature in 1998 and consists of 15 members including four legislators. The 11 non-legislative seats are appointed to represent all sectors of the travel industry and are geographically diverse. Tourism is a $12 billion industry in the State of Washington and employs over 100,000 residents
