ELLE Spa Reveals "The Power of Connecting with our Senses and Natural Elements"

In a fast paced society and with increasing developments in technology, we unknowingly drift away from one on one connections losing awareness of the very essence of our senses. From birth, babies develop their emotions through how a mother touches and holds them. Anxiety and stress of babies, subside with the nurturing arms and comfort that parents provide through touch. As we grow, through touching objects, seeing colors, and feeling materials, we began to educate ourselves and develop our worlds around us whether it be happy and stable or anxious and depressive from the lack thereof. Later in life, a warm hug, light touch, and holding hands can instantly reduce stress, cortisol levels drop, and heart rates will decrease simply from the power of connecting with friends, family or someone who cares.

In 2011, the ELLE Spa, became a full service spa to the public. Besides being a world-renowned spa, ELLE Spa is also a wellness center. From the beginning, we incorporated the beliefs of connecting with our senses from the moment you walk into our doors. We believe in the power of touch and therefore implement this belief in all of our massages, facials and body treatments delivered by the hands of our amazing talented therapists, who provide this connecting healing energy through touch. When arriving at a spa and wellness center, you should feel as if you are departing from reality and reuniting with all that is health, wellness, and beauty. Natural elements are essential in providing the experience thus naturally bringing you the feeling of health and wellness. As we all need to elevate our sense of well-being at times, we find ourselves seeking touch whether it be conscious or unconscious.

At ELLE Spa, we have highly effective treatments to care for the whole body such as our Hamman Rituals, which is a retreat into a ritual of steam and deep detox in a six-step healing massage that provides an out-of-body experience and envelops you with natural aromatherapy giving you the ultimate in natural healing. You are cleansed with mint, tea and silt, then experience vigorous scrub of coffee, olive stones and fresh lemons. Later, you will soak and inhale in mineral-rich waters of sea salt, cedar and grapefruit as you are wrapped in a rich rhassaoul clay to draw deep impurities out of the body. Recharge with quince and orange blossoms and then be drenched in warmth with a Turkish massage. Finally, you complete your sensory journey with a touch of tangerine fig cream.

Another great treatment would be a four hand ELLE Spa Signature facial, which is our most luxurious and calming experience, designed exclusively for ELLE by famed beauty and holistic expert Tammy Fender. This treatment harmonizes and balances your body with a holistic consultation, a personalized selection of pure essential oils, oxygen therapy and foot reflexology. A rich mix of 87 vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids stimulate the regeneration of healthy new cells, increases circulation and deeply restores and hydrates for lifted glowing and luminous skin. Our master skin-care specialist is joined with the reflexologist to enhance your facial treatment. Your secondary practitioner will treat your feet and legs to a sole-soothing, thermal massage while your primary aesthetician addresses your skin care needs.

Eco-Friendly Practices: Corporate Social Responsibility

The hotel industry has undertaken a long-term effort to build more responsible and socially conscious businesses. What began with small efforts to reduce waste - such as paperless checkouts and refillable soap dispensers - has evolved into an international movement toward implementing sustainable development practices. In addition to establishing themselves as good corporate citizens, adopting eco-friendly practices is sound business for hotels. According to a recent report from Deloitte, 95% of business travelers believe the hotel industry should be undertaking “green” initiatives, and Millennials are twice as likely to support brands with strong management of environmental and social issues. Given these conclusions, hotels are continuing to innovate in the areas of environmental sustainability. For example, one leading hotel chain has designed special elevators that collect kinetic energy from the moving lift and in the process, they have reduced their energy consumption by 50%  over conventional elevators. Also, they installed an advanced air conditioning system which employs a magnetic mechanical system that makes them more energy efficient. Other hotels are installing Intelligent Building Systems which monitor and control temperatures in rooms, common areas and swimming pools, as well as ventilation and cold water systems. Some hotels are installing Electric Vehicle charging stations, planting rooftop gardens, implementing stringent recycling programs, and insisting on the use of biodegradable materials. Another trend is the creation of Green Teams within a hotel's operation that are tasked to implement earth-friendly practices and manage budgets for green projects. Some hotels have even gone so far as to curtail or eliminate room service, believing that keeping the kitchen open 24/7 isn't terribly sustainable. The May issue of the Hotel Business Review will document what some hotels are doing to integrate sustainable practices into their operations and how they are benefiting from them.
