KSL Resorts Annouces Appointment of James Struthers as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President
LA QUINTA, Calif. - Sept. 19, 2005 - KSL Resorts, based in La Quinta, Calif., today announced the appointment of James Struthers as chief financial officer and vice president. Mr. Struthers, who served most recently as chief financial officer of Orient-Express Hotels, joins KSL Resorts as the company continues its expansion strategy. The KSL Resorts Collection includes legendary American classics such as Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz., Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in Maui, Hawaii, Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, Calif., La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. and La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, Calif.

Eric Resnick, KSL Resorts previous CFO, has moved into a managing director role with KSL Capital Partners. KSL Capital Partners, formed recently by Resnick and KSL Resorts founder Michael Shannon, is a private equity firm that specializes in investments in travel and leisure businesses, including the hospitality, recreation, club, real estate and travel services sectors.
Struthers brings nearly two decades of high profile financial management experience to his new position with KSL Resorts. For Orient-Express Hotels, where he was based in London for the past five years as CFO, Struthers had complete financial management responsibility for the NYSE traded corporation, including financing, accounting, investor relations, treasury and legal. He was largely responsible for all aspects of the M&A process, and played a major role in the development of the company that has doubled its market cap to $1.2 Billion since its initial public offering in 2000.
Prior to his work for Orient-Express, Struthers held positions with Sea Containers Ltd, including as group financial controller, and later, as vice president, finance, and at Eurostar (U.K.) Limited, where he served as CFO and finance director from 1997 to 1999.
Struthers got his start in finance with KPMG, with whom he worked as a chartered accountant in London, and then as audit manager in Hong Kong, where his primary client was Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
Struthers, who has a degree in accountancy from Polytechnic Central London, is married with three sons - ages eight, six and two.
