Jeff David Named General Manager of the Chanler in Newport, RI
Extensive experience clinches management position at historic boutique hotel
NEWPORT, RI, September 21, 2005. The Chanler Hotel has announced the appointment of Jeff David as its General Manager. A seasoned veteran of the luxury hospitality industry, David joined The Chanler in May 2005 and will oversee all hotel operations, including food and beverage, public relations and marketing.
An historic icon of Newport, Rhode Island, The Chanler houses twenty rooms, each embracing a different period reflected in authentic furnishings, art and d'ecor. The hotel also boasts the highly-acclaimed restaurant, Spiced Pear. The first mansion on the famed Cliff Walk, The Chanler resides near Newport's other historic mansions along Bellevue Avenue, with the city's scenic downtown waterfront an easy stroll away.

David brings to The Chanler a distinguished, 13-year career in the hospitality industry with tenures at a number of distinct high-end resort properties (including nine years with Four Seasons Hotels). Prior to his position at The Chanler, David was General Manager of Ocean Edge Resort, the premier seaside property on Cape Cod, from 2004-2005. Before joining Ocean Edge, David spent two seasons as Food & Beverage Director/ Resident Manager at Cap Juluca on Anguilla, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, helping the resort capture major travel awards, including #1 in the Caribbean on Cond'e Nast Traveler's 2004 "Gold List." Prior to Cap Juluca, he was Food & Beverage Manager at Little Dix Bay, a Rosewood Hotel in the British Virgin Islands, where he assisted with the implementation of the resort's new $5 million spa. From 1997-2001, David held similar positions at Four Seasons Hotel Boston, including General Manager of the Bristol Lounge, where he clinched its status as the chain's highest-grossing restaurant throughout his tenure. David's hospitality career launched at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons property in Los Angeles, with a position as Beverage Supervisor, among others.
A New Jersey native of Philippine descent, David was also previously a print and runway model for Click Model Management, appearing in ads for Banana Republic, J. Crew and others. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UCLA, then turned his love of creativity into a passion for hospitality. He has been trained in Wine Stewardship at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, California, and has received numerous hospitality certificates through Regent/Four Seasons Hotel training courses. He and his wife, Kim, currently reside in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
