FEBRUARY 26, 2008. Sun International's Table Bay Hotel announces the appointment of Phillip Couvaras as the new General Manager of the Table Bay Hotel. The stellar property, located on Cape Town's beautiful waterfront, was voted the number one hotel in Africa in Cond'e Nast Traveler's 2007 Reader's Choice poll.

Couvaras, a native of Zambia, has more than 20 years of experience working with Sun International. One of his most notable assignments was his position as the first General Manager of Sun International's spectacular Zambian hotels, The Royal Livingstone and Zambezi Sun, both located on the precipice of Victoria Falls. In addition to his tenure with Sun International, Couvaras has spent time in Africa, Australia and the Pacific Islands with GM positions that have included Couran Cove Island Resort on Australia's Gold Coast and Radisson Fiji, Denarau Island.

Couvaras says he will "stay true to Sun's commitment to exceeding our customers' expectations," and believes that "Cape Town, with its sophisticated infrastructure, rich history, dramatic landscapes, vibrant city life, and kaleidoscope of exotic people adds up to one of the most desirable travel destinations on earth."

The Table Bay Hotel, which occupies a prime position on the historic Cape Town waterfront, combines a subtle blend of nautically styled elegance with luxurious relaxation providing the ideal setting for both business and pleasure. Each of the sophisticated rooms and suites offer magnificent views across the Bay of Robben Island or the majestic Table Mountain.
